Recently, on March 22, 2018, Craigslist completely closed its Contacts section, in response to a recently approved bill: Law to Stop Enabling Sex Traffickers (SESTA), which removed Section 230 protection for services involved knowingly in illegal sex trafficking. Craigslist did not want to jeopardize the rest of its classified ads business due to its personal ads section. However, they keep open the possibility that their popular personal boards will be reopened in the near future.
